The PWC GAA All Star nominees have been announced this morning (September 25) and there appears to be one Mayo representative nominated for an award.
The All Ireland Champions Kerry have nine players on the list of nominees with ten nominees coming from fellow finalists Donegal.
Mayo defender Jack Coyne has received a nomination after he produced yet again a fine season in the green and red jersey. The Ballyhaunis clubman was tigerish in games as he held some of the brightest attacking talents in the game to a minimum.
This year’s All Stars nominee list consists of 45 players made up of players from 12 different counties.
The shortlist for the Footballer of the year consists of two Kerry players in David Clifford and Joe O’Connor while Donegal man Michael Murphy is also on the three-man shortlist. Murphy, an experienced player who had an instrumental effect on this year’s Championship has Mayo links with his father Mick being a native of Ballina.
