New floodlit pitch and walkway will be a game-changer for community-based Mayo GAA club

Mayo GAA club all set to open sparkling new facilities

The new pitch and walkway at Parke Keelogues Crimlin GAA will be opened on Saturday, September 27.

HISTORY will be made on Saturday, September 27 when the official opening of Parke Keelogues Crimlin GAA's new flood-lit pitch and scenic walkway takes place from 3pm.

The new state-of-the-art flood-lit pitch provides the club's players with a well-lit surface all year round giving more opportunities to train and play. The walkway provides a beautiful, safe and accessible route for walking, jogging, and leisure activities, connecting residents to green spaces and fostering community interaction while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.

These projects were made possible through funding from Croke Park, Connacht Council, Sports Capital Grants, South-West Mayo Development Company, Department of Rural and Community Development, European Union and Mayo Local Action Group under the Rural Development Programme (leader) and CLAR, with support from local TDs, county councillors, partners and volunteers.

The club’s own fundraising activities over the last six years, involved three major initiatives as well as the ongoing 50/50 weekly lotto. The club would like to thank its members, the wider public and all the businesses who supported each fundraiser. It reflects the club and the community's commitment to improving quality of life and supporting active living.

The official opening ceremony will take place at the Parke Keelogues Crimlin GAA pitch on Saturday from 3pm with well-known journalist Mike Finnerty present to interview local ministers, councillors, special guests and others before the cutting of the ribbon.

For further information about the planned celebrations for the opening day, please see Parke Keelogues Crimlin GAA’s Facebook page.
