Two of Mayo LGFA's most prominent clubs have only days to go until they fight for their lives to avoid the drop out of senior football.
The much-anticipated Mayo Senior Club Championship relegation final between Carnacon and Hollymount has been brought forward.
The clash of two of the traditional heavyweights of the local landscape had been due to take place on the weekend of October 11/12 at 11am in the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan.
However, following consultation with both clubs, the tie has been brought forward by Mayo LGFA to this Sunday (September 21) at 11am.
This is a huge tie for both clubs. On one side, Hollymount are scrambling to avoid the drop. Their illustrious 40-year history, including their nine Connacht titles and pair of appearances in All-Ireland deciders, speaks for itself.
On the other side, though, are the side that sit atop the roll of honour. Carnacon will be desperate to avoid plying their trade in Intermediate football.
The game is set to provide plenty of fireworks, and the eyes of the county will be on Bekan, as well as the championship semi-finals throwing in around the county.
