A deadline of 8pm tonight (Monday, September 8) has been set for an appeal to be lodged by Hollymount-Carramore regarding the controversy surrounding their draw with Kilmaine in their Mayo Intermediate Championship Round Three game.

The clash between the pair, which saw Kilmaine advance at the expense of Mark Concannon's side under the floodlights in Garrymore on Friday evening, has been mired in controversy ever since.

During the game, referee Declan Corcoran made the call to award Kilmaine a two-pointer after Kevin Mullin's 28th-minute effort.

The Mayo News understands that the window for submitting an appeal is fast approaching, with a deadline set of 8pm tonight (Monday, September 8), 72 hours after the game.

Speaking to The Mayo News, Hollymount-Carramore chairman Tom Connelly expressed his club's intention to submit an appeal.

"We felt during the game that the decision was wrong, and when we viewed video footage afterwards, that was clearly confirmed. We were told at the beginning of the year that clear video evidence was required for all such appeals, and we feel we certainly have that here."

Connelly also explained that the club held no animosity towards Kilmaine or the match officials involved, but a clear error had been made.
