INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Kiltane 5-14
Islandeady 1-10
In Bangor
A large crowd packed into Kiltane's home ground in Bangor and witnessed some spectacular football, especially in the first half.
Kiltane picked up where they left at in their comeback win over Parke in the first round, and breezed past Islandeady.
Josh Carey put on a show, as the supporters basked in the sun shining down on Erris - literally and metaphorically.
His partners in crime in a lethal attack, Charlie Ginnelly and Ben Donoghue, supported by a strong and pacey midfield pairing of John Ginty and Liam Donoghue, were too much to handle for Islandeady.
The guests never caught fire. Brendan Gibbons was their best man on the pitch and he kept trying until the end.
Islandeady found themselves being turned over in the middle of the field too often, and the visitors simply lacked the firepower to compete with the Kiltane onslaught.
The Erris men left no doubt that they meant business and quickly ran up a 0-5 to 0-1 lead.
Islandeady's Brendan Gibbons gave the home crowd a little bit of a fright when he scored the first goal of the game to suddenly give the visitors a one-point lead.
But then Kiltane replied with two goals in two minutes from Josh Carey and Charlie Ginnelly. Carey's strike will be a strong contender for goal of the championship.
Kiltane's Martin Gallagher fisted in another goal, and the Erris men were leading 3-11 to 1-5 at half-time.
Even in the modern game, a 12-point deficit is hard to overcome and Islandeady were unable to do so in the second period.
The men in blue and gold wouldn't relinquish their lead. Corner-forward Ben Donoghue and dynamic wing-back Owen Doherty added two further goals for the home team to guarantee Kiltane a home quarter-final.
Islandeady will have to regroup after this heavy defeat for their must-win showdown against Parke in the final group game.
