A solid old-fashioned no-nonsense defender is rare in the modern game, but the man they call John Mac is a hugely talented defender.
Captain of the Mayo U-20 side this season, it’s clear he has the attributes of a real leader. The Castlebar man can play anywhere in defence while also having the skills to man-mark some key opposition forwards.
In his early twenties, MacMonagle will surely wear the green and red in the not-so-distant future and is one that can catch the eye of players, supporters, and perhaps the Mayo management.
