The Mayo GAA Executive have revealed it will be at least two weeks from today before a candidate to manage the senior men’s team is recommended to the County Board, casting some doubt on the original timeframe put in place to appoint Kevin McStay’s successor.
In the meeting of the Executive and club delegates on Monday, July 7, Secretary Ronan Kirrane stated they “would anticipate that by the second to third week of the club championship, we would have a manager in place, if not sooner.”

The Mayo News now understands that, due to the unavailability of candidates for interviews at present, a manager will not be in place until at least Friday, August 15.
That date falls precisely one week from the start of Round Two of the club Championships.
Many potential suitors have exited the race in recent weeks, with the likes of Oisín McConville and James Horan either ruling themselves out or taking up other posts.
However, there are still plenty of people being linked, with Andy Moran, Austin O’Malley, and Tony McEntee among the names, although no applicants have officially put their names into the ether.
