Oisín McConville
Oisín McConville’s name has been one who has commanded plenty of column inches and airtime in the wake of McStay’s departure, and with good reason.
Wicklow’s exit from the Tailteann Cup to Limerick brought the curtain down on a solid season for The Garden County, and McConville was central to their good fortune.
They produced one of the shocks of the Tailteann Cup when, despite operating in Division Four, they knocked out a Division Two side in Westmeath. McConville managed Crossmaglen, Meath club Seneschalstown and Monaghan's Iniskeen Grattans as well as Dundalk IT before taking the Wicklow job ahead of the 2023 season.
Make no mistake, the difference between managing the expectations of the Wicklow and Mayo public is massive. However, his time and experience leading the line in the footballing strongholds of Armagh and Crossmaglen would surely stand to him if he were to take the reins in the West.
