It’s crunch time for the Mayo Ladies this weekend, as they head to Tubbercurry teetering on the verge of losing their status as a senior footballing county.
Mayo have had a poor 2025, and there’s no point saying otherwise: the fact that they are in this position at present is evidence of that. However, a win this weekend would help to save this season from potential oblivion.

What happened in the last game?
The last time these two sides met occurred back in late April in the opening round of the Connacht Championship. On that day, Liam McHale’s side survived a late Leitrim comeback to secure the only win of their Championship campaign to date.
What do Leitrim bring to the table?
Leitrim haven’t had a sparkling 2025 to date either, and will be aiming to avoid returning to Intermediate football, having only just secured the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup last season.
Who is refereeing the game?
Sligo referee Gus Chapman will take charge of the clash in his home county, having been mired in controversy in the last clash for his decision to rule out Mayo’s last-gasp goal effort for a square ball.
Chapman has plenty of experience on big days, having previously shouldered the responsibility of officiating the 2023 All-Ireland semi-final between Kerry and Mayo.
