Details confirmed for Mayo’s All-Ireland clash with Cavan

Details of the date, time, and location for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship group stage game between Mayo and Cavan have been revealed.

Kevin McStay’s men will be disappointed with the nature of their defeat at the hands of Galway in the Connacht final on Sunday afternoon, but will be looking to attack the All-Ireland Series with renewed vigour.

Now, they know the details of where and when they can get their season back on track. The Round One clash of Mayo and Cavan will throw in at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar on Sunday, May 18 at 2.30 pm.

Supporters of the Green and Red will be hoping for a repeat of the result the last time these two sides faced off, exactly one year ago to the day.

On May 18, 2024, the Breffni were unable to stop a Mayo side spearheaded by Cillian O’Connor and Ryan O’Donoghue from powering to a 0-20 to 1-8 Round One win in the same venue as this season's tango.

The specifics of the Round Two clash with Tyrone, on the weekend of May 31/June 1, are yet to be confirmed. The last time that the Red Hands played a home championship game outside of Healy Park was all the way back in 2004.
