A selection of some of the entries for Mayo supporters
TOM McNALLY
BIRMINGHAM
THE Louisburgh native who has lived in Birmingham for the past 50 years has been nominated by his family. He literally never misses a Mayo game in league and championship as well as attending every round of the club championship.
When the National League fixtures are confirmed booking commences as Tom lines up eight flights, accommodation and car hire before ending up in Croke Park for all four League Finals.
When championship season arrives whether it be Leitrim, Ruislip or New York, Tom will make arrangements to be there. He never misses a Mayo game and is regularly the first person into the ground, taking up his prefered position in the stand long before the crowds arrive.
Ever conscious that club is the oxygen that keeps the Mayo heart beating, flights booked for every round of the club championship, ending with the county final every year.
Of course, in the greate scheme of things Sam Maguire is the target with dreams of having a pint with him in Mick Byrne's, but the friendships forged over the years in pursuit of the dream is also a prize cherished by Tom.
The blood pressure and bank balance continue to fluctuate but the passion and support for Mayo is constant. No need to dust off the Mayo jersey or cap as they never get chance to gather dust. No matter what the outcome, he is always ready to do it all again next year.
