Charlestown Sarsfields GAA Club have confirmed the appointment of former player David ‘Ginger’ Tiernan as manager for the 2025 season.
The 51-year-old, who captained the club to a county title in 2001 and played in four senior county finals, will be joined by a management team of Francis Mannion, Patrick Walsh, Michael Horkan and Phillip Craig. The latter two were also part of Stephen Healy’s backroom team for the 2024 season.
Charlestown are one of the last senior clubs in Mayo to confirm managerial appointments for the 2025 season after numerous vacancies arose following the 2024 club championships.
The east Mayo club lost two of their group championship games to Garrymore and Ballyhaunis and drew with Castlebar Mitchels, but avoided relegation by beating Belmullet in a relegation semi-final.
Tiernan was wished well in his new appointment by the club, who confirmed his appointment on social media.
