The blue-riband of Mayo sport will throw up countless thrills and spills before the Moclair Cup finds a home for the winter. Ballina Stephenites are gunning for their third title in succession and will go in search of glory as soon as the whistle blows.
However, they will face multiple challengers along the way. The Mayo Senior Championship is a dog-fight from start to finish.

GROUP 1
Ballina, Garrymore, Ballyhaunis, Crossmolina
The drive to achieve legendary status begins here. Can Ballina Stephenites win three-in-a-row? A good team wins one, a great team wins two, a legendary group wins three.
It's a huge ask but the men in green and red are well able for it. However, they'll get very little room to breathe in this group. Garrymore will be looking to make an impact after being dumped out in last year's quarter-final, Ballyhaunis can take out anyone when they hit the high notes and Crossmolina will be chomping at the bit to stake their claim in senior football.
The Deel Rovers men feel they can make an immediate impact at the top level and they're more than capable of doing so. Ballina should progress from this group handily enough if they're on form, but any of the other three could join them. Watching it unfold will be intriguing.
GROUP 2
Breaffy, Castlebar Mitchels, Aghamore, Belmullet
THIS is a tough one. Belmullet being a fourth seed really puts the cat among the pigeons here and the Erris men are sure to have an impact. Of course, the 'Deane-Filo Derby' captures the imagination immediately.
The clash of neighbouring clubs, Sean Deane's Breaffy and Kevin Filan's Castlebar Mitchels, will be worth watching as two of the best managers and two talented squads come face to face.
Belmullet were nearly relegated last season, but also nearly made the quarter-finals, so if they're on song and if results fall their way, they could end up in the quarter-finals. They'll fear nobody at home or on the road.
Aghamore will be waiting in the long grass for anyone who takes them for granted. They're a seasoned, battle-hardened senior team and if they get rolling they're capable of taking anyone down.

GROUP 3
Ballaghaderreen, Ballintubber, Claremorris, Charlestown
A tough group. All four will fancy their chances, all four could miss out on progression. New Ballaghaderreen boss Patrick Sharkey will be hoping his team continue their upward curve after pushing Ballina all the way in last season's semi-final.
Ballintubber will be a test for anyone, especially with Cillian O'Connor dedicating himself to club football this season. The Abbeysiders haven't the biggest squad but if they have everyone fit and on the pitch they'll test the best.
Claremorris have been touted for years as dark horses but it's time for them to step into the light. Kevin Beirne has a talented, energetic bunch at his disposal. This is their time to shine.
Charlestown love championship. Take them for granted at your peril. They'll relish the task ahead of them and will certainly make waves.
Group 4
Knockmore, Westport, Balla, Mayo Gaels
Intrigue, strategies and subterfugue. This group will produce more stories and sub-plots than a Donald Trump press conference. Ray Dempsey and Pat Holmes trying to out-fox one another on the sideline; Joe Brolly unleashing his tactical expertise on Mayo club football and the ongoing saga of Balla and Mayo Gaels – and that's just for starters.
Knockmore will be looking to go one better than last year and win the title, Westport will be hoping to get back on top after recent disappointments while the Mid-Mayo Mash-Up between Balla and Mayo Gaels will capture many imaginations.
The third and fourth seeds are more than capable of taking down the other two. Balla pushed Westport all the way last season and Gaels have the talent to beat anyone, especially in Abbey Park. This group won't be simple inside or outside the white lines.
