THERE were matches across all adult competitions over the weekend as top-class Ladies football lit up venues in all divisions.
In the intermediate championship, Castlebar Mitchels and Claremorris were the top two in Group A while Louisburgh and Moy Davitts came through Group B intact.
Claremorris recorded a hugely impressive home win over Kilmoremoy with eleven players getting on the scoresheet. Teenage attacker Bree Hession kicked 3-1 while Rebecca Kean added 2-3. Nina Wallace and Alana Fitzpatrick weighed in with 1-1 each while Laura Kelly and Ashleagh Salmon added 0-3 apiece. Emma Higgins landed two points while singles were added by Marina Cawley, Aishling Cummins, Siomha McNulty and Aine Lynn. The women in blue were outstanding in the first half and were 25 points clear, 4-13 to 0-0. Kilmoremoy never threw in the towel and were much better in the second half, out-scoring the home side 3-6 to 3-5 before the final whistle sent Claremorris into the semi-final.
In Group B Ballyhaunis and Davitts played out a thrilling draw while Louisburgh went to Foxford and scored three goals in a hugely entertaining battle with the home side. Moy Davitts fought hard but were two points adrift at the end, 1-11 to 3-7.
The final round of matches in Junior A championship group stages also proved to be highly exciting with St Brigids and Aghamore coming through from Group A and both Parke and Breaffy emerging from Group B.
St Brigids confirmed their spot at the head of the group with a big 8-18 to 0-4 win over The Neale while Aghamore's point-taking was hugely impressive when they defeated Westport B 1-24 to 3-5.
Arguably the game of the day occurred in Parke when the home side edged home 3-13 to 3-10 after a fantastic contest with Breaffy. Kilmeena were too strong for Cill Chomain in the other match in the group, winning 2-6 to 0-5.
In the Junior B campaign, there were matches in all three groups. Kilmaine were too strong for Claremorris in their Group A clash. Meanwhile a contest between Gaeltacht clubs in Group B ended with Tuar Mhic Éadaigh defeating Béal an Mhuirthead 3-16 to 4-4 while Kiltane went to Ballinrobe and recorded a 7-17 to 2-5 win.
In Group C a fine game between Achill and Kiltimagh ended with the latter emerging victorious on a 2-9 to 1-6 scoreline. In the other game Shrule Glencorrib kicked 6-8 in response to 1-2 scored by MacHale Rovers B.
