Mayo Ladies Senior Football Championship Round 3
Knockmore 7-25
MacHale Rovers 0-8
In Ardagh
MACHALE Rovers were outclassed on home soil by reigning league and senior county champions Knockmore, who performed outstandingly to reach the county semi-final this morning.
Knockmore were stellar from start to finish against an opposition that got all but one of their scores from Mayo Minor Kayla Doherty.
The county champions played brilliant football at break-neck speed and shot 2-14 before Doherty kicked the hosts' first score from a free in the 28th minute.
Inspired by the likes of the outstanding Sarah Mulvihill, Knockmore unleashed their full firepower in the first half as Shauna Howley (2) and Cliodhna Flynn both found the net to leave the scores at 3-15 0-2 at half-time.
Knockmore continued their shock and awe offensive after half-time, with Lara Sweeney (2), Cliodhna Flynn and Clodagh Keane netting in a near-flawless display from the North Mayo ladies.
The saffron and blue had ten unique scorers with Lara Sweeney leading the way with 2-7 (4 frees).
Cormac Reape's charges will now meet Carnacon in Knockmore in next weekend's county semi-final.
A full report, plus reaction from Knockmore's Nina McVann, will be carried in Tuesday's Mayo News Sport.
