Limerick hurler Aaron Gillane will not be speaking at the Knock Novena due to personal reasons
KNOCK Shrine have confirmed that reigning Hurler of the Year Aaron Gillane will not be speaking at the upcoming Novena.
A spokesperson for Knock Shrine confirmed to The Mayo News that the All-Ireland winning Limerick hurler has withdrawn from the event due to ‘personal reasons’.
Gillane had been due to speak alongside various other speakers at the event, which draws thousands of people to Knock over the nine-day novena.
The 28-year-old from Patrickswell was to address both the afternoon and evening sessions on Tuesday, August 20, on the theme of ‘What it means to believe’.
Gillane has won five All-Ireland senior medals, six Munster medals, four All-Star awards, and was the Hurler of the Year for 2023.
The National Novena to Our Lady of Knock will take place from Wednesday, August 14 to Thursday, August 22.
