TWO second-half goals made the difference for Garrymore in a Mayo Senior League clash that was even and honest but never ignited as a spectacle.
The Hessions, Enda and Jamie, both shook the net from close range as Garry' got the better of their guests in the final quarter of this mid-week league clash.
Garrymore were boosted by the return of Mayo footballer Enda Hession, but both teams were missing players in a game where the scores came slowly and steadily.
Even with a strong wind, Garrymore found 'Gaels tough to break down on an evening which felt more like March 3 than July 3.
The home side fell behind twice before the end of the first half, which finished 0-6 apiece.
Trevor Nally shot 0-5 for the South Mayo men, who were even with Mayo Gaels until full-forward Gary Golden set up Enda Hession to palm the ball into an empty net.
Hession went for a point shortly after, only to see his effort crash off the upright and down into the hands of Jamie Hession who got Garrymore's second goal to put daylight between the teams.
