Ollie Turner from Galway Bay FM will host the special preview of the Connacht Final tomorrow evening.
GALWAY Bay Radio will host a two-hour ‘Up for the Match’ show from Garrafrauns Community Centre tomorrow, Friday evening, from 7pm to 9pm.
The show will be hosted by Ollie Turner from the sports department at the Galway station and the small village of Garrafrauns between Irishtown and Dunmore is the perfect place for the local rivalry to manifest itself in a special.
Tom Lally’s Pub in the village was the venue for previous broadcasts leading home to the regular provincial showdowns between the two counties. Sadly, Tom died back in March 2020 but he is still remembered in such a special way on big sporting weekends.
Ollie Turner has extended a warm welcome to Mayo supporters to come along and join them for the two hour special this Friday night.
“The Galway v Mayo rivalry is always special down the years. Dunmacreena Bridge at the county border has undergone a good few colour changes over the years alternating between maroon and while and red and green," said Ollie.
“We hope to have a good panel of guests and we would love to see some people from Ballindine, Irishtown, Kilvine, Logboy and Tulrahan and anywhere else in the county come and join us in Garrafrauns Community Centre. Clashes between Galway and Mayo always generate a lot of extra interest and we hope to set the scene nicely ahead of the big match in Salthill on Sunday.”
