A late point at the death from Sinéad Walsh saved Mayo's bacon as the Connacht queens secured a draw over the reigning Division 1 champions this afternoon.
Kerry appeared to be on the home straight with an 0-8 0-5 lead with ten minutes to go before three unanswered points from Liam McHale's ladies earned them a valuable point.
Lining out without All-Star defender Danielle Caldwell, Mayo played against the breeze in a defensive first half where Kerry kicked six wides and which ended 0-4 all.
The Kingdom looked to have control of the second half when they pushed three ahead. They also let a couple of goal chances slip with Niamh Ní Chonchúir and Hannah O'Donoghue both coming close.
Mayo came right back into the game and struck on the bounce through Sinéad Walsh and a Maria Cannon free before Walsh performed her heroics with the equaliser in the last minute.
