The death has taken place of Eamonn Conway, Carrabeag, Newport Road and formerly of Ballinaglough, Snugboro, Castlebar. Eamonn’s death has cast a shadow of loss across the West Mayo and surrounding region. His funeral will take place this evening and tomorrow in his native Castlebar.

The deceased was a widely respected personality while he came from a family who were well-known in the Castlebar area through their operation of Edward Conway Motors.

Playing football for his beloved Snugboro for many years in which the ‘Boro enjoyed a spell that brought plenty of good times to the club, Eamonn lined out in the heart of the defence, while playing with great distinction on many occasions in Conway Park. He also played for Castlebar Celtic at underage level.

Predeceased by his parents Edward and Teresa Conway and uncle-in-law Jimmy Munnelly, he is deeply regretted by his heartbroken family: brother Padraic, sisters Rosemary, Tracy, Gillian and Deirdre, sister-in-law Caroline, brothers-in-law, Declan, Ciaran, Mark and Tadhg, aunts Margaret (Dodo Munnelly), Maura and Helena, uncles P.J Conway and Declan, beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts in-law, uncles in-law, neighbours, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Deepest sympathies are extended to the bereaved family on their immeasurable loss. Eamonn will repose at his brother Padraic’s residence, Ballinaglough, Snugboro (F23 NK87) this evening from 4pm to 7pm.

Removal on Saturday morning at 10.15am for Requiem Mass at 11.30 am in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar. Eamonn will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
