Tributes have been pouring in for Richard King Snr. following his passing on Monday 20, 2025 at his home in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
Friends, family and acquaintances have paid tribute to the father of 13 on his rip.ie page, many reflecting on his sense of humour and friendliness to all who knew him.
One person wrote: "Very sad to hear this. Richard was a gentleman with a great sense of humour. I will miss him calling to the clinic, it was lovely to have known him."

Another person said: "may his gentle soul rest in eternal peace. One of life’s true gentleman."
Another wrote: "He was a gentleman and always a pleasure to meet. He always had time to chat and laugh."
Another said: "To all the King family, our deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad. I used to enjoy meeting him on his weekly shopping route."
Richard is pre-deceased by his loving wife Bridie, sons, Edward and David, brothers Patrick and Sean, sisters Gertie, Jo, Rita and Eileen.
He is deeply regretted by his loving sons Richard, John, Pat, Michael, Fergal, Alan, Damien (Westport) Brian and Alex, daughters Caroline and Joanne (Killarney), sister Nora Cowell (Manchester),16 grandchildren, Son in law John, daughters in law Nora, Bernie, Mary, Ina, Ann and Laura, brothers in law, Paddy Joe, and Hiriam, sister in law Marilyn King, nephews, nieces cousins, relatives, neighbours, former colleagues in Eircom and friends.
Richard will repose at the Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar on Wednesday evening, January 22 from 5pm until 7pm, followed by removal to his home.
Removal from his home on Thursday morning at 10:15am to The Church of The Holy Rosary Castlebar via Spencer street arriving at 11am for requiem mass at 11:30am.
