Speeding on Mayo roads: Multiple vehicles stopped by An Garda Siochana

The An Garda Siochana Mayo Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checkpoints yesterday evening.

In wet driving conditions on the N5 at Charlestown, a number of motorists exceeding the100km/h speed limit were detected.

The cars stopped included:

  • A campervan was detected travelling at 137km/h in a 100km/h speed zone resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points
  • A driver was detected travelling at 141km/h in 100km/h zone resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points
  • A driver was detected travelling at 143km/h in 100km/h zone resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points

An Garda Siochana urge drivers to slow down, drive safe and arrive alive.
