The Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out checkpoints over the weekend and made some discoveries with consequences for the drivers

The Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out speed checkpoints on the N17 as part of the extra traffic travelling towards Donegal for the rally.
One of the drivers detected for speeding was also arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. 
Another one of the drivers detected speeding also had no insurance and had their vehicle impounded.
Gardaí said, they will always maintain a presence on the roads but urges motorists to not speed or drive in a dangerous manner and to have their documentation in order.
