The Mayo Roads Policing Unit were on patrol yesterday, when their attention was drawn to a specific vehicle.
After examination, the rear tyre was in an extremely poor condition, also, astonishingly, the back left brake had been cut off where a vice grips had been clamped to the brake line.
The result would be no working brake to that wheel.
Tax had also expired on the vehicle. The vehicle was seized for further technical examination.
Motorists are reminded of the importance of keeping their tyres and vehicle in road worthy condition to avoid compromising their safely and other road users safety.
