Fond memories recalled as proud Mayo native passes away

Patricia Marsh, Leixlip, Kildare, who died in Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin, formerly of Ballinasmalla, Claremorris RIP

Patricia Marsh, Leixlip, Kildare, who died recently at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin, was formerly O’Connor from Ballinasmalla, Claremorris, Mayo, and was daughter of the late Tom and Maureen O’Connor.

Maureen was a member of a well known and prominent family in the Ballinasmalla area over the years and the news of her passing was received with much sadness by former neighbours and good friends.

Numerous tributes have been paid to her by the community in the Leixlip area where she was widely known and hugely respected as a lady with a wonderful and beautiful singing voice. Among those leading the tributes was one from Cora McKean.

“I know how much Our Ladies Gospel Choir meant to Trish. We are a great community of people and it is so very sad when we lose one of our members. Trish was full of mischief and fun and as a fellow soprano, I’ll miss her.”

Frank Colgan, Lucan, with family roots in Bohola, commented: “I extend condolences to all her family on behalf of the Lucan Spa Hotel Golf Society. We include you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”

Reposing was at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Celbridge, on Friday evening with removal to the Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip, on Saturday morning for Requiem Mass. This was followed by burial in Confey Cemetery, Leixlip.

Patricia will be sadly missed by her husband, Diarmaid, her brothers John and Eamon and her sisters Mary and Delia, her mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
