While no works are planned on public roads, local streets may experience increased construction traffic. Uisce Éireann will keep all stakeholders informed throughout the duration of the project.

Uisce Éireann’s investment across County Mayo continues, with an €18m upgrade to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Claremorris now underway. This essential project will increase the design capacity of the plant by 65%, enhance treatment performance to protect local waterways, and meet obligations under the Water Framework Directive. Crucially, this significant investment will provide the infrastructure needed to support future growth in the town.

Patrick Greene, Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, said: “This upgrade represents a major investment in Claremorris and underlines our commitment to safeguarding the environment while enabling sustainable development. By boosting the capacity and modernising key treatment processes within the existing site boundary, we will ensure that the plant can cater for current and future needs, contribute to biodiversity conservation, and support the social and economic ambitions of the community. We appreciate the cooperation of residents and businesses as we progress these vital works.”
