Film exploring rural isolation set for Mayo premiere

Renowned actor Michael Harding plays the main protagonist in the film, which will be shown in Claremorris Town Hall Studio.

A pair of Mayo filmmakers are set to screen their short film in the county for the first time, as ‘Where The Old Man Lives’ will be shown in Claremorris next week.

Carnacon native Ruaidhrí Hallinan and Kilmaine man Eamonn Keane will be bringing their short film to Claremorris Town Hall Studio next Thursday, May 8, for a Mayo premiere.

The film revolves around the story of Padraig Nally in Cross and explores the themes of resilience, rural isolation, and the impact of losing your sense of security.

Given the story’s links to South Mayo, it is particularly poignant that the film produced by producers from the county will be shown in the region.

The screening will be the first of four in the area. Next up is a screening in Ballinrobe on May 15, while Glencorrib will also have screenings on May 21 and 22.

All four screenings will also have a screening of Rapcaious, directed by Eamonn Keane, and Radha, a film about a twelve-year-old girl who lives with her grandmother.

The film will be followed by a question and answers session with both Ruaidhrí and Eamonn.

Tickets to the screening in Claremorris can be purchased by clicking here. Doors open at 7.30 pm, with the screening getting underway at 8 pm. Tickets are €10.
