ONE of Claremorris Colts RFC’s brightest female prospects has been called up to represent Ireland.

Aoife Heaney, who has represented Connacht in the past, has been selected for the Ireland U18s Women's Training Squad ahead of the Six Nations U18 Festival this April.

Meaney, who plays in the backs, is one of seven Connacht players called into the squad and the only Mayo player.

Her call-up to the Irish jersey has been warmly welcomed by her club.

“Aoife, a standout player for Claremorris Colts RFC, has been making waves in the rugby scene with her impressive performances at club and provincial levels,” read a statement from Claremorris Colts RFC.

“ Her dedication, skill, and leadership on the field have earned her this incredible opportunity to train with Ireland’s top young talents as they prepare to take on the best in Europe.

“This achievement is not only a testament to Aoife’s hard work and talent but also a proud moment for Claremorris Colts RFC, the Claremorris sporting community and the wider Mayo rugby community. Her selection highlights the growing strength of women’s rugby in the region and serves as an inspiration for young aspiring players.”
