New look Mayo Yearbook hits the shelves across the county this week
We are delighted to announce that the Mayo Yearbook for 2024 will be on sale in shops across the county this week.
The Mayo Yearbook looks back on all the great events across the county that grabbed the headlines in The Mayo News during 2024.
Among the large community events to feature are the naming of Newport as 'The Town of the Two Graces' and the historic occasion when Ireland's first artificial reef was created in Killala Bay.
We have interviews with Mayo Person of the Year, Rita Casey, who features on our Yearbook cover this year; we talk to legendary TD Michael Ring, who is retiring from public life after 45 years service and Swinford's Cathal Kelly tells us about his amazing fundraising walk from Canterbury to Rome.
We also look back at the impact the Paddington Bear statue has had since its arrival in Westport and look forward to a hugely busy end of year for Mayo's musical societies.
In sport, we look back on the huge success for Mayo javelin thrower Oisin Joyce; Olympic diver Ciara McGing and the great team successes for Westport LGFA in ladies GAA and Castlebar Celtic in soccer.
