Mayo University Hospital is now the third most overcrowded hospital in the country. In figures released by INMO ‘trolley watch’ there are currently 37 patients awaiting a bed at MUH, today (Friday, April 10).

Of the figures, 19 of the patients are in the emergency department, while a further 18 are in wards elsewhere.

University Hospital Limerick currently has 105 patients awaiting a bed, while Sligo University Hospital has 41 patients without beds.

Nationally, 505 admitted patients are waiting for beds, of which 319 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 186 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
