ALERT: Product recall over shock risk from appliance sold in Mayo stores

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a recall on the De Vielle Dual Fan Electric Heater, with retailers in Westport and Castlebar on the list

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) have issued an urgent product recall on a product with a serious risk of electric shock. Retailers with Mayo outlets are among those affected.

Today (Tuesday, September 16), the commission put out a recall on the De Vielle Dual Fan Electric Heater.

In total, 5,019 of the 2,000-watt heaters are affected, with a 'serious risk' of electric shock revealed by product testing.

Those who have purchased the heater are advised to stop using it immediately and return the product to the seller for a refund.

The front grill of the product (code DEF978005, barcode 539152097799, and batch numbers between 61299 and 66311 inclusive) can break and expose live parts.

Two stores with outlets in Mayo have been affected. These are Hurst Heating and Plumbing Supplies (who have stores in Westport Industrial Park and Moneen Road in Castlebar), and Woodies DIY (who have a store in Castlebar Retail Business Park).
