Mayo's Older Person's Council has been in place since 2016.
The Mayo Older Person’s Council is set to host their annual event on Monday, September 15 at the TF Royal Hotel in Castlebar from 10am to 2pm.
Special guests on the day will deliver presentations on Age Friendly Ireland, HSE Integrated Care for Older People, Crime prevention and Safety in the Home as well as many others.
Mayo joined the Age Friendly Cities and Programme in 2013. One of the actions under the programme is to set up an Older Persons Council. Given this, Mayo set up an older persons council in 2016.

Mayo’s Older Persons council carries out walkability audits to improve Age Friendliness of buildings, partner with service providers that encourage the participation of older people in communities and works the younger people to encourage a positive culture around ageing.

The event set to take place next week is free of charge.
