Christy Lawless was a firm advocate for the development of Turlough Park
One of Mayo's leading archaeologists in recent times is set to be commemorated in touching fashion in Turlough Park.
Christy Lawless was well-known both in the county and beyond for his passion for archaeology, photography, and the preservation of this country's cultural heritage.
Christy was a driving force behind the establishment of the museum in Turlough House and played a crucial role in seeing the landmark develop into what it is today.
In a bid to commemorate the extraordinary work that he put into Turlough House, the Christy Lawless Memorial Project was established following his sad passing in September of 2022, leaving behind his wife Mary, his sons Alan and Brian, his grandchildren Emma, Roslyn, and Liam, and his extended network of family and friends who loved and cherished him.
In order to fittingly remember his contributions, a bench to honor the impact of Christy's work will be located in the grounds of Turlough Park. The bench is estimated to cost approximately €6,000, with donations welcome.
