Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault on Tucker Street in Castlebar in the early hours of Saturday, August 23.
At approximately 2.50am Gardaí received report of a male unconscious after an alleged assault outside a licensed premises on Tucker Street.
The injured male, aged in his 20s, was removed from the scene and taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The scene was preserved and an examination was carried out. He has reportedly being removed to the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
Any road users or persons with camera footage (including dash-cam) in the Tucker Street area between 2.30am and 3.15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
