Almost €8 million will be allocated to installing new electric vehicle charging points around Ireland by the TII
It has been revealed that Mayo is set to receive a major boost to the number of electric vehicle charging points located around the county.
In total, five new EV recharging hubs will be installed in Mayo as part of a 53-strong boost to the nation's capacity to cater for an expanding fleet of electric vehicles.

The locations in Mayo are as follows:
The McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris; Ballindine Service Station; Golden Mile Service Station, Castlebar; Keegan's Centra, Castlebar; Corrib Oil, Westport.
As part of the rollout of the new vehicles, the distance between recharging hubs will be less than 60 kilometres.
The news was welcomed by Darragh O’Brien, the Minister for Transport.
“We’re taking real, practical steps to make electric vehicles work for everyone,” the TD stated. “With more chargers, more choice, and more support, we hope even more people will feel confident making the switch to electric.
“These high-powered chargers are a key step in that process. We’re committed to building a sustainable and cleaner transport system, and that means making it easy to charge wherever you are.”
The CEO of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Peter Walsh, also expressed his delight at the expansion.
“Working in partnership with ZEVI (Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland) and the private sector, this scheme is helping us build the kind of infrastructure people can rely on: fast, efficient, and accessible.”
It is anticipated that all new EV Charging Points will be in place by the end of 2025.
