A further ten have already been installed in other locations as the first series of 160 to be installed nationwide in a €60 million investment.
The new devices will come with a raft of significant improvements. Firstly, cash deposited will be available to be reused for withdrawals. Also, all devices will include an earphone socket for those wth visual impairments to receive audio assistance to guide people through transactions.
Bank of Ireland’s Castlebar branch manager, Rory Curran, believes that these new ATMs will be of significant benefit to those in the county town.
Our new ATMs in Castlebar have greater cash processing capacity, are more energy efficient, and have additional accessibility features,” he stated.
“Renewing the entire fleet is a major investment, but it will enhance our customers’ access to cash. We are excited to see the first new ATMs now installed, and we’re pressing ahead with the rollout to the rest of our branches.”
