The final plans for the 2025 edition of Mayo Day are starting to take shape, as a series of events have been planned across the face of the globe to celebrate the iconic county.
The event this year takes place on Saturday, May 3, and will span multiple locations from Manchester to Malaysia, as well as a plethora of events within the county, ensuring that no matter where a Mayo person is, they can pull on the Green and Red with pride.

Among the events on local shores is ‘Blas Mhaigh Eo’, a traditional trad session in Swinford, and a youth music festival on the Mall, Castlebar, with over 150 young musicians on the main stage.
Those wishing to dip their toes into traditional Mayo practices like wool spinning and turf cutting can go to the likes of the event in North Mayo Heritage Centre, and the showing of ‘Mixie’s Bog’ in Belmullet’s Áras Inis Gluaire.
The final event of the festivities will be the Grand Finale Concert in TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar. At the event, the likes of Tommy Fleming and Garron Noone will be taking to the stage to entertain the crowds packed into the theatre.
Those in far-flung lands can look forward to events in their new homes to celebrate their ‘Mayoness’. People in Manchester can look forward to a ‘Mayo Day Concert’ at 9 pm in the Oisín Music Lounge, Farmers Arms, Burnage.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Mayo contingent can book their tickets from Malacca and George Town to Kuala Lumpur, as Healy Mac’s Publika will host a Mayo-themed quiz at 5pm on behalf of Orange Eire GAA club.
