The numbers mean that the Castlebar facility has the third-highest number of patients being treated on trolleys of any hospital in the country.
Only Letterkenny University Hospital (40) and University Hospital Limerick (75) are recorded more patients on trolleys.
Of the 40 patients being treated in MUH, eleven are being seen in the emergency department, while 16 are elsewhere in the hospital.
Today’s figures represent a jump of eight from those reported on March 24.
“This is not just an overcrowding issue - it is an emergency. Lives are being put at risk due to a health system that is failing the people of Castlebar and the county,” he stated.
