THE Mayo College of Further Education and Training have raised over €800 for the Irish Cancer Society as part of their annual Daffodil Day fundraiser.

The third-level institution, which has three main campuses, Castlebar, Ballina and Westport, hosted a bucket collection on March 27, which raised €842.20 for the Irish Cancer Society.

Fundraising events took place all over Mayo for Daffodil Day. The annual event raises millions for the charity, which supports thousands of patients with cancer and their families.

Margaret Walsh, a cancer survivor and former Daffodil Day ambassador, accepted the cheque from Mayo College of Further Education and Training at their Castlebar campus on Thursday on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society.

Mary Murray, a member of the Irish Cancer Society’s Community Fundraising Team, described Ms Walsh as ‘a great ambassador’ for the cause.

The cheque was formally presented by Michael Murphy, Principal of Mayo College of Further Education and Training’s Castlebar campus.

The college thanked all the students and staff who helped contribute to their Daffodil Day collection.
