Mayo students are once again being invited to attend the AXA Roadsafe Roadshow to learn about the importance of road safety.
The event will be held, in conjunction with Mayo County Council, in Castlebar’s TF Royal Theatre on Wednesday, April 2, and aims to educate young people on the dangers of driving.

Among the topics covered at the event, which started in 2007 in the county, will be the impact of substance abuse, speeding, and distracted driving on drivers.
A survivor of a road traffic collision, as well as a family member of a deceased road traffic accident victim, will address those in attendance.
Among others making presentations to students will be the Gardaí, local fire and ambulance services, and a consultant from Mayo University Hospital’s emergency department.
Last year’s event marked its return after a four-year absence. The special guest for the 2024 edition was social media star Stevo Timothy, who was in a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident in which he was under the influence of alcohol.
