Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar
Recent INMO figures have revealed that the overcrowding issues in Mayo University Hospital are still ongoing, with 30 patients waiting for beds as of this morning (Tuesday, February 18),eight short of the 38 recorded on one day in January.
A total of 13 patients are waiting to be seen in the emergency department, and 17 are to be treated in wards elsewhere.

The figures from the organisation see the hospital in Castlebar rank as the fifth-highest figure outside the capital for those waiting to be treated.
Councillor Harry Barrett branded the overcrowding in the hospital in recent weeks as ‘disgusting’ and ‘unsafe’.
Health Minister Jennifer Carroll-MacNeill, in a visit to the facility earlier in the month, floated the notion of increasing weekend staff to alleviate the pressure on the hospital.
Nationwide, trolley figures have grown by 10 to 623 from the 613 waiting on January 20.
