Gardaí in Mayo have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fire that occurred at a Castlebar home in the early hours of this morning(Monday, February 17).
Both the fire services and the Gardaí were called to the scene of the incident at around 1.45 am, in which the door of a house in the town was burned down.
The three residents of the home in question were evacuated safely by the Emergency Services at the scene.

A technical examination of the circumstances leading up to the fire has since been carried out, and an investigation is now underway.
