Mayo's world boxing champion, Rachel Lally, has issued a fresh appeal to fight on the undercard of a potential Katie Taylor fight in Croke Park.
Rachel Lally, also known as 'The Bullet from Belmullet', made the stake for inclusion off the back of her Round Two knockout of Ghanaian Grace Mapesa to secure the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) World Super-Middleweight title.
Earlier in April, the former national underage champion was impressive in front of a near sell-out crowd at The Pavilion Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, where she added to her UBO International title as well as extending her unbeaten pro record.
“Katie Taylor if you get to Croke Park I want to be on that card. I want to represent the West of Ireland," she proclaimed. "I'm from a small town, from the very West coast of Ireland.
"We're big sports people. I've been a fan of yours since day one and if we get Croke Park happening, Mayo never win when we get to Croke Park but if I'm on the card, we will win!"
Taylor, the best female boxer of all time, and her promoter, Eddie Hearn, have both mooted the idea of a potential retirement bout in the home of the GAA, with recent rumours suggesting that a bout could co-headline alongside the hotly-anticipated match-up of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
