Lavelle's Circle K on Achill Island ran out of petrol and diesel this morning
The only filling station on Achill Island in west Mayo has run out of both petrol and diesel with reports of motorists waiting up to 30 minutes to fill up in Mulranny due to the demand.
Lavelle's Circle K filling station in Cashel on Achill Island confirmed that they have run out of both petrol and diesel this morning after the scheduled weekly delivery failed to arrive yesterday due to blockade of the Galway fuel depot by fuel protesters.
As a result, motorists on Achill Island have to travel to Doherty's Applegreen in Mulranny which is the closest filling station to fill up. At lunch time, motorists are having to wait up to 30 minutes to reach the pump and The Mayo News has been informed that there are massive queues of traffic going through the village as motorists wait to fill which is leading to major traffic conjestion.

Doherty's confirmed that their tanks have both petrol and diesel but they are running low due to the demand and they are not sure how long they will last.
A spokesperson for Lavelle's explained that they hope that a delivery of fuel will arrive later this afternoon.
