There is a potential total of €35,000 on the line for the overall national winner, with €10,000 going to the winner of each of the seven categories. There is also an individual prize available for the ‘Hero of the Year’, who will receive €5,000.
In the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ section, Kinaffe Community Garden has won the provincial competition. Also representing the county on the national stage will be Count Me In, which is run by the Western Care Association, in the ‘Youth’ category.
Lastly, the Ballina Dragon Boat club will compete in the ‘Sport’ section.
Representatives from all three groups will make the journey to Kildare for the finals on Saturday, October 18, which will take place in the Killashee House Hotel in Naas.
Marty Whelan, renowned television presenter down through the decades, will be presenting the awards show on the night, and spoke of his amazement at the work of those in the communities.
“Every year, I’m blown away by the heartwarming stories and tireless dedication behind our Good Causes,” he stated. “This year’s National Finalists truly represent the best of us: passionate, determined, and committed to making Ireland an even better place for everyone.
“It’s an honour to help shine a spotlight on their achievements and give them the national recognition they deserve.”
