A group of Mayo firefighters is aiming to raise vital funds for two important charities.

Over the course of the last three weeks, the crew of Ballina Fire Services have been putting their foot to the floor and gathering money in aid of Foxford and District Alzheimer’s Trust, and Jamie’s Echo.

Foxford and District Alzheimer’s Trust aims to offer aid and support to those in the area who are suffering from the condition to navigate the world and access important supports.

Alzheimer's Disease is a cruel thief, gradually stealing the memories, personalities, and independence of those we love,” the group started. “It is a devastating condition that impacts not only the individual but also their families and communities.”

The second charity that they are fundraising for is Jamie’ Echo.

Jamie’s Echo is currently raising funds for an Echo cardiograph machine in the baby care unit at Mayo University Hospital.

The group only started fundraising 22 days ago, on Thursday, April 17, with the goal of reaching €1,000 a long way away.

However, before a month has even passed, the four-figure barrier is in their crosshairs, having received €730 at the time of writing.

Those interested in donating to the two worthy causes selected by the Ballina Fire Services, Foxford and District Alzheimer’s Trust, and Jamie’s Echo, can do so by donating on their iDonate page here.
