Senior cycle post-primary students from across Mayo gathered at Ballina Training Centre for an exciting Open Day event as part of Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) Apprenticeship Week 2025.

This event was one of the highlights of MSLETB's inaugural Apprenticeship Week, a dedicated
celebration of apprentices, employers, and training providers.

The week-long initiative showcased the value of apprenticeships and work-based learning, emphasising the diverse career pathways available across multiple industries.

The event provided students and their teachers with a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of
educational and career pathways as they near the completion of their second-level education.

Attendees enjoyed guided tours of the state-of-the-art facilities, where they experienced live learning
environments and participated in hands-on skills demonstrations.

Led by experienced instructors, visitors observed current apprentices and learners in action, gaining valuable insight into various trades and professions.

“We were delighted with the huge turnout at this year’s event and are grateful to everyone who
attended,” said Frank Brady, Adult Education Officer at Ballina Training Centre.

“Our goal was to showcase the diverse range of apprenticeship and training opportunities available and ensure attendees received valuable information to help shape their future career decisions.”

The Open Day featured a diverse selection of apprenticeship and traineeship options, including Electrical, MAMF (Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting), Advanced Manufacturing,
Cyber Security, Welding and Fabrication, Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, and Construction.

Representatives from MSLETB’s Apprenticeship, Guidance, and Recruitment teams were on hand to
provide expert advice on applications, eligibility, qualifications, and funding supports.
