Fergal is not only the sole Mayo representative, but the only player selected for the squad from all of Connacht.
He will link up with the side as they make the journey to Italy for the European Championships in June, run by the Sports Union for athletes with Down Syndrome (SUDS).
Speaking on his achievement, Fergal expressed his joy, stating: “I love futsal. I'm so excited going to Italy to play for Ireland with my friends.”
Fergal is one of eleven players who has been selected in the squad for the event, which is being organised by the Italian Paralympic Sport Federation.
The SUDS Futsal and Basketball European Championships will be held in Ferrara, Italy from Thursday, June 15 - Wednesday, June 21.
