Ballina has recorded a commercial vacancy rate of 23.9 percent
BALLINA has again recorded the highest level of commercial vacancy in Mayo.
The GeoDirectory Commercial Buildings Report Q4 2024, which identified 30,635 vacant commercial buildings across the country, found that the commercial vacancy rate in Mayo was 17.5 percent. This is higher than the national average, which was recorded at 14.5 percent.
This represents a marginal rise from the 17.3 per cent vacancy rate the town recorded in Q2 of 2024.
Of the urban areas in Mayo surveyed, Ballina had the highest commercial vacancy rate of 23.9 percent, up slightly from last recorded figure of 23.2 percent. Westport had the lowest commercial vacancy rate of any Mayo town surveyed, with 13.1 percent.
Sligo was the county with the highest commercial vacancy rate at 20.6 percent, followed closely by Donegal (20.1 percent) and Galway at 18.8 percent.
