Mayo man wins gold and silver medal at European Para Youth Games

A 17-year-old Mayo man has won two medals at the European Para Youth Games in Istanbul over the weekend.

Damien Moyles from Crossmolina ran to glory, winning the gold medal in the T13 400m event. He time of 54.16sec was a new personal best.

Moyles also won silver for the 100m. He was the first to win a medal for Ireland at the European Para Youth Games.

His hometown Crossmolina will honour their medal winner with a civic reception this evening (Monday, July 28), at 6pm at the local Civic Centre.
